While We Are Free

Shirin Ebadi, the first Muslim woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, inspires millions of people around the world with his work as a lawyer defending women and children from the brutal regime in Iran. Ebadi tells her story of courage and defiance in the face of a government determined to destroy her, her family and her mission.

For years, the Islamic Republic has been trying to intimidate Ebadi, but since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's rise to power in 2005, censorship and persecution have become even more severe. The government tapped Ebadi's phones, monitored her law office, raided her home. Although her life resembles a spy novel, nothing is able to make her silent and stop fighting for people's dignity.

Iranian government takes everything away from Shirin Ebadi - her marriage, her friends and colleagues, her home, her career, even her Nobel Prize - but it failed to rob her of the courage to fight for justice and a better future. This is the astonishing story of a woman who would never give up despite the dangers.
