At the Edge of the Big Forest

Tragic, comic, full of mystery and hope for redemption, with many references to beloved fairy tales, folklore and classic literature, steeped in an atmosphere of magical realism, this novel meets Saba, who, after twenty years of exile in London, returns to his native Tbilisi to track down his father and brother, who have disappeared without a trace, to unravel the mystery weighing on his family, and to find the right path through the rubble of the past.

„By the big forest“ of the Georgian writer Leo Vardiashvili is an unusually moving story, told with pathos, anger and humour, which takes us through two of Georgia's wars, through the streets of Tbilisi's old town, through monasteries high in the mountains.

A book that truly feels like a journey through a great dark forest.
