Kera

An emotional story searching for the roots of Bulgarian spirituality

Even as an infant, Kera lost her mother, and with her the warm affection and care in the family. The little girl learns hard labour early on and faces unfair treatment. But with adversity come small human joys - the moments with a faithful friend, first love, sit-downs. Kera grows up beautiful, strong and with a kindness in her heart that she never loses, even in the most overwhelming trials.

But strange dreams from the distant past haunt her nights. In them, Kerana, a believer in the teachings of Bogomil, walks a difficult path to fulfill her sacred mission. And her destiny seems to be intertwined with that of Kera.

The novel is an emotionally evocative attempt to search for the roots of Bulgarian spirituality and a revelation about how historical upheavals test a woman's mission to be a mother, wife and lover.
