The sin of the monk

"The sin of the monk" is like an ember on which you are about to step with bare feet. A ember that calls you to itself to challenge you to dare and walk through it. And if you do, to purify yourself of everything.

This is not a book. A fire. And it will burn in you once you touch its pages.

"The Sin of the Monk is a book inspired by those black times of slavery in Bulgaria. A period in which the seeds of rebellion sown against the Ottoman Empire, aspirations for freedom, were quickly crushed under the oppressor's feet. The result of such a revolt against authority brings its consequences - cruelty, bloodshed, inhuman trials for the spirit and body of the rebels.

The writing style of Vanya Boycheva is fascinating and very Bulgarian because of the archaic words it weaves into its language. He skillfully presents us with a picture that will inevitably transport the reader back in time, to that historical period in which Bulgarian survived.
