The Widow

Simon Lach, a lawyer in a small Virginia town, is barely able to pay his bills, has gambling debts, and his marriage is falling apart. One day, an elderly widow walks into his office and asks him to draw up a will for her. Eleanor Barnett has no children and no relatives and seeks advice on whom to leave his twenty million that no one knows about.

After succeeding in winning the richest client of his career, Simon seeks to keep the secret of her inheritance from everyone. Soon this proves impossible. When, after a car accident, Eleanor is admitted to hospital with minor injuries but suddenly deteriorates and dies, Simon realises that nothing is as it seems. He himself is blamed for her death and is likely to spend the rest of his life in prison. His only salvation is to find the real killer.

„Вдовицата“ е първият криминален роман на Джон Гришам - по-завладяващ дори от съдебните му трилъри.
