The Charity Evening

Lisa Hodges has always thought that her best friend Sue has the marriage of her dreams. She is married to Kurt—her high school sweetheart and current business partner.

In their thirty-five years of marriage, Sue had never once doubted her husband—until Brandy joined their thriving insurance company. She’s a blonde beauty, perfect at her job—all the clients prefer to work with her. And Sue really likes her, too, but rumors begin to circulate… And when Kurt suddenly loses fifteen kilograms, a few well-meaning friends start asking her what’s going on.

Lisa also has her own worries about Rhett and her grown children…

The familiar characters from Pamela Kelly’s previous novels are back—some are facing work-related challenges, others are dealing with health issues, and still others are worried about their personal relationships and love lives. And the plot twists unfold one by one, while everyone awaits the annual Nantucket Charity Gala—the island’s biggest event, featuring dinner, dancing on the beach, and fundraising for important causes.

The novel captures the essence of life itself: the worries and joys we all experience; the challenges we overcome with the help of family and friends; and the heartwarming evenings spent with loved ones over a glass of wine and a delicious meal.

The books of Pamela Kelly are written with sincerity and warmth, and in the end, love and friendship triumph.
